Gujarat Maritime Board

The state of Gujarat has a 1600 km long coastline with 48 notified non major ports and one major port. Gujarat Maritime Board (GMB) is also the first maritime board of the country which was established in 1982 with a vision "To enhance and harness ports and international trade as vehicles for economic development.”

Maharashtra Maritime Board

The state of Maharashtra has a 720 km long coastline with 48 notified non major ports and two major ports. Maharashtra Maritime Board came into existence w.e.f. 22.11.1996 with a view to grant more autonomy and to provide sufficient flexibility in the development and administration of Non-major ports in the state. The Commissioner, water transport, was later re-designated as Chief Executive Officer, Maharashtra Maritime Board.

Captain of Ports Department

The state of Goa has a ~100+ long coastline with 5 non major ports and one major port. The Captain of Ports was established in 1912 with responsibility of developing Inland Waterways and Minor Ports of Goa.

Karnataka Maritime Board

The state of Karnataka has a ~320 km long coastline with 13 notified non major ports and one major port. Karnataka Maritime Board (KMB) is a statutory body set up by the Government of Karnataka in 2017 to provide for the rapid development and management of Ports, Inland Waterways, Islands and the coastal region in the state of Karnataka.

Kerala Maritime Board

The state of Kerala has a 590km long coastline with 17 notified non major ports and one major port. Government by the enactment of KMB Act 2017, has entrusted the administration and control of the non major ports with the Kerala maritime Board with a vision to develop Kerala into a smart, sustainable and prosperous blue economy.

Tamil Nadu Maritime Board

The state of Tamil Nadu has a 1076 km long coastline with 17 notified non major ports and 3 major ports. Keeping in line with the maritime history and in realising the need for growth in the maritime sector, the erstwhile Tamil Nadu Port Department was converted into Tamil Nadu Maritime Board under the Tamil Nadu Maritime Board Act, 1995 (Tamil Nadu Act 4/96) with effect from 18.03.1997.

Andhra Pradesh Maritime Board

The state of Andhra Pradesh has a 1053.7 km long coastline with 15 notified non major ports and one major port. Andhra Pradesh maritime board was constituted on 16.12.2019 with aim to develop plans and frame guidelines aimed at promoting the development of the non-major ports in AP, the hinterland and industrialisation in port areas.

Commerce & Transport Department (Odisha Maritime Board)

The state of Odisha has a 480 km long coastline with 14 notified non major ports and one major port. The Government of Odisha established the Odisha Maritime Board on March 28, 2022, to promote the comprehensive development of ports and inland waterways.

West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation

The state of West Bengal has a 158 km long coastline, featuring one major port and a minor port at Tajpur, for which a letter of intent has been issued. West Bengal Maritime Board was established on 01.10.2015 as a nodal agency for development of maritime sector in the state under West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation.
