MoPSW initiated a comprehensive review /consolidation exercise along with MoRTH and MoR of all current and proposed road and rail connectivity projects-CIG list, Sagarmala projects and other projects as proposed by ports. A new master list of road and rail connectivity projects has been prepared basis requirements received from all Major Port and Other Than Major Port (OTMP).
The aim of this joint exercise done by MoPSW is to set implementation timeline by MoRTH and MoR for port road and rail connectivity projects. As an outcome of joint discussion, a total of 318 port connectivity projects (181 Road + 137 Rail) has been listed worth ~2 lakh Cr. Break-up is as follows:
- 140 projects worth ~ 121,223 Cr. have been Completed OR are Under Implementation
- 123 projects worth ~ 76,759 Cr. (82 Road connectivity and 41 Rail connectivity) are currently in various stages of Development
- 46 projects have been deprioritized by MoRTH and MoR due to various reasons like- low cargo handling, topographic issues, land acquisition issues etc.
- 9 projects have been marked Deferred by MoRTH and will be taken up in near future
Focus is on 123 projects which are Under Development and currently under the purview of MoR and MoRTH on finalizing implementation timeline.
